Days 1 & 2

Ourguentch - Khiva

Arrival in Ourguentch, welcome by your guide and drive to Khiva. Breakfast on board. Panoramic tour of Khiva's old inner city, Itchan Kala, a historic city with high brick walls. Visit to the Tach Khauli Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lunch with tasting of «chivitoshi» (dill noodles).
Discover the Anoucha Khan baths, the Muhammad Rahimkhan medersa, the Khorezm and Avesta museums. Discover the caravanserai of Allakouli Khan and the Ak mosque. Khorezm folklore concert* during dinner in town. Hotel accommodation.

Drive to Toprak Kala, a fortress dating from the 1st century BC. Visit to the remarkable archaeological site on the Kyzyl Koum hills. Continue on to Ayaz Kala and visit the town nicknamed the «fortress of the wind». Lunch in a yurt. Transfer to the station and departure by train for Bukhara. Packed lunch on board the train. Arrival in Bukhara and transfer to hotel. Overnight accommodation.

Khiva - Toprak Kala - Ayaz Kala - Bukhara

Bukhara

Visit to the city of Bukhara, where more than a hundred of the city's buildings are listed as Unesco World Heritage Sites. Lunch. Visit to the majestic Poikalian complex, the Mir-I-Arab medersa, the Friday mosque and the Kalian minaret.
Discover the markets, recognizable by their «Tok» (a succession of vaults allowing access to camels loaded with merchandise) housing the domes of hatters and jewelers. Folklore show in the medersa Nodir Devon Begui*. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Discover the minaret of Tchor Minor, symbolizing the four cardinal points, then the Fayzullo Khodjaev House, exhibiting art and music from the 19th and 20th centuries. Visit to the prestigious Sitora I Mohi Khosa Palace, second home of the emirs. Lunch in the restaurant.
Visit to the Nakshbandi memorial complex, one of the most important Muslim shrines. Visit to the Chor Bakr necropolis. Visit to the miniature workshop of master Davron Tochev. Classical music concert in a medersa*. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Bukhara

Bukhara - Samarkand

Visit Lyabi Khaouz square, surrounded by sumptuous monuments, the khanaka and medersas of Nodir Devon Begui and Koukeldach, the 9th-century Magok-i-Attari mosque and the medersas of Ulughbek and Abdul Aziz Khan, each rivalling the other in beauty. Lunch time.
Transfer to the station and departure by train for Samarkand. Arrival in Samarkand and transfer to hotel. Dinner in town. Accommodation at hotel.
Discover Reghistan Square, featuring three monumental medersas in a unique style: Ulughbek, an ancient spiritual university, Chir-Dor with its portal symbolizing Samarkand's power, and Tilla Kari. Visit the mausoleum of Gour Emir. Visit to the Bibi Khanum mosque.
Stroll through the popular Siab bazaar, visit a silk carpet factory. In the evening, a show at the «El Merosi» theater*, showing the evolution of costumes and lifestyle from the 1st century BC to the 15th century. Dinner of «chachliks» (kebabs) in a traditional restaurant. Overnight accommodation.

Day 7

Samarkand

Samarkand - Chakhrisabz - Samarkand

Visit to Shakhrisabz, Tamerlane's birthplace, whose historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the remains of the Ak Sarai or "White Palace". Visit Dorout Tilovat, "house of meditation and contemplation". Lunch. Return to Samarkand on the road winding through the mountains. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
Departure for the village of Qorateri, half an hour's drive from Samarkand, for a visit to the school and a meeting with the pupils and teachers: a warm welcome for precious and sincere moments. Discover Uzbek rural life with a visit to a typical village house, followed by a presentation of traditional ceremonies and a cooking workshop.
Lunch at a local's house, enlivened by the dances and songs of the villagers, with participation in the preparation of plov, the traditional Uzbek dish. Return to Samarkand. Visit to a Samarkand paper workshop, where you'll learn how paper is made by hand. Late afternoon Uzbek wine tasting. Dinner and accommodation.

Samarkand - Qorateri - Samarkand

Samarkand - Tashkent

Visit to the Ulugbek observatory, considered a historic monument. Discovery of the Afrosiab site and museum, built on the remains of ancient Samarkand in the 7th century, then destroyed by Genghis Khan. Then visit the Chakh-i-Zinda necropolis. Then lunch. Transfer to the station and departure by train for Tashkent. Arrival in Tashkent. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
