Days 1 - 2

Naples, Charterhouse of Padula, Scalea, Cosenza

Flight to Naples. Welcome by your guide and transfer to the hotel. Check-in at your hotel on the Bay of Naples. Dinner and overnight stay.
Departure for Salerno and drive to Padula. Guided tour of the Unesco-listed Certosa di San Lorenzo (entrance fees included). Lunch followed by a guided tour of Scalea, a historic Calabrian town on the Cedar Riviera. Check-in for 2 nights at a hotel in Cosenza. Dinner and overnight stay.

Excursion to southern Calabria and its sumptuous seascapes. Departure for Pizzo and Tropea. Guided tour of Tropea, the jewel of Calabria, with its remarkable site. Lunch on board. Continuation to Capo Vaticano, a promontory 107 m above the Tyrrhenian Sea, opposite Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands, offering breathtaking scenery. Dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4

Cosenza, the Sila Massif

Guided tour of Cosenza, whose historic center, with its winding streets lined with numerous palaces, bears witness to the prosperity that this Calabrian city once enjoyed. Discovery of La Sila National Park, nicknamed «Calabria's Little Switzerland». Lunch in Santa Severina and discovery of the village, a remarkable site (exterior views). Check-in at the hotel in Ciro Marina in the evening. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
Departure for Rossano for a guided tour of this historic Calabrian city overlooking the Gulf of Taranto, including a visit to the Duomo of Rossano (entrance included), according to schedule, and religious services. Lunch, then drive along the Gulf of Taranto, through Basilicata and Puglia. Visit to a masseria, famous for its olive oil production. Check-in at a hotel in Alberobello for 3 nights. Dinner and overnight stay.

Cosenza, Rossano, Alberobello

Day 6

Matera, Alberobello

Excursion to Matera, in the Basilicata region, and guided tour of the Matera sassi, a Unesco-listed troglodyte dwelling (entrance fees included). Lunch included. Return to Alberobello and guided tour of the town famous for its trulli, typical Apulian dwellings, including Trullo Sovrano, a unique 18th-century hut (entrance fee included). Dinner and overnight stay.
Departure for Salento, the «heel» of the Italian «boot». Guided tour of Lecce, the «Florence of the South»: the remarkable Basilica of Santa Croce, a Baroque masterpiece (entrance included), the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral (exterior view)... Lunch at La Scarpetta restaurant, ideally located in Lecce's old town and offering top-quality cuisine. Guided tour of Otranto Cathedral (exterior views). Dinner and overnight accommodation.

Lecce and Salento

Day 8

Alberobello, Bari, the Bay of Naples

Departure for Bari and guided tour of Puglia's capital: Piazza del Ferrarese, Basilica of St. Nicholas, old town... (exterior views). Short drive to Trani and lunch at La Locanda restaurant, offering refined cuisine and surroundings near the port of Trani. Guided tour of Trani, whose jewel is its cathedral (entrance fee included). Check-in for 3 nights at a hotel on the Bay of Naples. Dinner and overnight stay.
Short drive to Gragnano, Italy's pasta capital, and visit to an artisan pasta factory. On to Salerno. Board a jet boat for the crossing to Amalfi, dominated by Mount Cerreto, one of Europe's major ports from the 9th to the 13th century. Free time to explore the town, followed by lunch. Free time. Return by jet boat to Salerno. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9

The Sorrento Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast

Day 10

Pompeii, Naples

Short drive to Pompeii, buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Guided tour of this extraordinary archaeological site (entrance fees included), with its magnificently preserved frescoes and mosaics. Lunch followed by a guided tour of Naples and the exceptional Naples Archaeological Museum (admission included), where some of the finest statues and mosaics unearthed at Pompeii are on display. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
